Vastu Shastra Direction
Direction is an important ingredient of Vastu and it is important to take care of different directions in which various parts of the building have been built. In ancient times directions were scrutinized on the basis of the direction of the Sun but nowadays, compass is used to decide about the direction. There are mainly four directions namely, East, West, North and south and four sub-directions. The sub directions are those where the four main directions meet and those are North-East, North-West, South-East and South-West.
Each of these main directions have their own significance and they influences the affects that each of the adjoin corners may have on the different spheres of a person's life. Similarly, the sub-direction too has their own significance with respect to the different areas of the person's life who is residing in the building wherein the effects of Vastu are being analyzed.
In real sense the whole analysis of the science of Vastu Shashtra is based on the analysis of the directions of a building or a home or a home or an office being built. Also, it is about taking care of the directions related to different parts of the building so as to allow in adequate floe of positive energy. The selection of the directions of the different parts of a building like kitchen, bathroom, store room and others can have a great influence on the life of the inhabitants.
Main Directions
1. East
- East is considered as the key and the first direction as per the teachings of Vastu Shastra. This is because one of the reservoir of energy that is SUN, that showers upon us a great amount of energy rises in the East direction.
- This direction is considered as very powerful and is believed to be owned by Lord Indra. Since Lord Indra is considered as the powerful God that provides power, growth, prosperity, rain and much more, and so one need to be very much careful about the Eastern direction in any type of building.
- Also, since the planet that represents this direction is Sun, which is considered as the giant source of numerous types of energies including vegetation, growth, happiness, joy and prosperity, and so this direction is of great importance with respect to the science of Vastu
- The Eastern part of the building should be open, as much as possible with huge scope for the light to get enter. It should be kept clean with enough light in the room.
- Never build toilet, staircases or a store room in the East directions as that can `cause a great amount of negative energy to pervade through the space.
- Don't leave any type of obstruction in the Eastern direction as that can create a lot of problems in your living space.
2. West
- The West direction according to Vastu is believed to bring a great amount of stability in life.
- It is considered as per the teachings of Vastu Shastra is Lord Varun and he is responsible for bringing in good luck, fame and rain.
- The planet signifying the West direction is believed to be Saturn. Vastu advises that there should not be any type of big opening in this direction of the building as that can cause an immense drainage to the energy.
- It is said that if there is any bigger opening in the West direction, it would not be able to keep up the powerful energy that enters in from the energy of the East direction that is the Sun's energy.
- Never keep any entrance in the eastern direction as that can cause damage to any prospect of income.
3. North
- The influential Lord of this direction is Lord Kuber and therefore this direction is considered very powerful one.
- Lord kuber stands for prosperity and wealth and is considered to be a powerful Hindu God.
- The plant associated with this direction is Budha and is considered as the direction for career and wealth
- Since the breast and chest of Vastu Purusha is believed to occupy this position so this direction should be made such that it is more open, light and beautiful.
- Since north direction is associated with the North Pole from where a great amount of energy is emancipated. This direction should always have some bigger `openings so as to allow great flow of energy.
4. South
- Usually we consider south as an evil direction but Vastu teaches, that is not actually the case and the South direction is the one where all the energy of North gets accumulated.
- The deity related to the Southern direction is Lord Yam, who is believed to be the deity of death as per the Hindu religions.
- The planet associated with this direction is MANGAL
- There should not be any bigger opening in the Southern direction as that can cause problems bigger like that of death.
- Build closed places in the South direction as that is believed to bring in prosperity and keeps the ruler of death far away from you.
Sub-Directions
1. Northeast
- Northeast direction is considered as an amazing part of a building as per the Vastu.
- The Hindu deity associated with this direction is the tremendously powerful Lord Shiva.
- The corresponding planet of this direction is Vrihaspati and this direction is believed to provide health, wealth, prosperity, spiritual enlightenment and knowledge.
- One should never build toilet in this direction of the building because it can kill away the health of the members of the family.
- Parts of the building like the store room and bedrooms should not be built in this direction. Also, putting any fire source in this part can cause accidents.
2. Northwest
- The deity associated with direction is Vayudev and the corresponding planet is Moon.
- Anything in Northwest direction is believed to very much unstable as this is the direction oif the wind.
- This direction is most suitable for taking up ones career to a higher level.
- Never make any wrong use of the Northwest direction or it can result into creating a lot of ambiguity and distraction of mind.
- Also, not following the Vastu principles can lead to bringing in a lot of restlessness among the members of the family.
3. Southeast
- The Southeast direction is associated with Lord AGNIDEV, which is the famous Hindu deity related to powerful force fire.
- The planet associated with direction is Shukra. It is said that when the greatest reservoir of energy, Sun, comes out to be in its hardest moods when it comes in the Southeast direction.
- Since fire has been associated with this direction, most of the fireworks are associated with the Southeast direction.
- Care should be taken while arranging for placement of other elements with fire as it is considered as very potent..
4. Southwest
- Southwest direction is associated with the demon NIRITI and the planet associated with this direction is Rahu.
- Making the right use of the Southwest direction can result into providing with a healthy, wealthy, confident and strong life.
- If applied with care as per the principles of Vastu, the Southwest direction can give you great name and fame.
- Make sure that there isn't any bad use of the Southwest direction as that can result into affecting many of the spheres of your life in the reverse direction.
